Looks like Google have finally rolled out Google Voice to the rest of the world.

A nice alternative to skype, the rates look fairly reasonable though not as cheap as Skype – in fact the only place it seems to beat skype is on calling the US.

Just browsing the Spotify site and are now instructions for installing a proper native Linux version, rather than running the windows version under Wine. That’s great – cheers guys!

Just installed Google Chrome for Linux (Beta), so I could check out this pure CSS3 ATAT (requires a webkit browser).

Chrome seems to work fine, nice :)

Just saw this story on the BBC site:

Magento, the ecommerce package that everyone is talking about at the moment and that Edmonds Commerce have been keeping a close eye on for the past couple of years or so has won the best of open source enterprise software award for the second year running.

Run by InfoWorld, the awards highlight the cream of the current open source crop. Unsurprisingly Drupal came out top for content management, it is definitely the CMS that Edmonds Commerce would recommend and Magento took the Ecommerce Crown. The blog award went to wordpress (what an awesome application).

Its been rumoured for ages but its finally happened, Yahoo and Microsoft have tied together and obviously the goal is to combine their forces to take on Google.

“Through this agreement with Yahoo, we will create more innovation in search, better value for advertisers, and real consumer choice in a market currently dominated by a single company,”

Said Steve Ballmer, head of Microsoft.

This is my favourite source for hi resolution desktop images. Some really nice pictures and all available in resolutions to suit whichever display you have.

The worlds most popular browser has a fundamental security flaw which allows malicious code to steal your passwords!

Time to switch to Firefox!

Like a pheonix rising from the ashes, Demonoid – one of the most highly regarded torrent trackers on the internet has returned after being shut down back in November 2007.

For anyone that was a member of Demonoid, this is amazing news as it truly was/is one of those resources that once you have had it, you feel like you can not live without it.

So well done to the people behind demonoid, may it continue to be the premier site for finding all of the torrents you need.

After a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs responding to pressure from the dutch and then (after a quick relocation) the canadian authorities the site was taken down completely in November 2007.

Now the site has returned, albeit with a new web master as Deimos has stood down from administering the site.

Hopefully Demonoid is here to stay this time. You can’t keep a good web site down!
