Installing Vokoscreen

To capture your screen on Fedora follow these steps:

  1. Go to the following download link for VokoScreen: http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/updates/24/x86_64/v/vokoscreen-2.4.0-3.fc24.x86_64.rpm

  2. Then install it with sudo dnf install path/to/rpm

Fixing ffmpeg errors

You may run into an error regarding ffmpeg. If this is the case, run the following:

  1. rpm -ivh https://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-25.noarch.rpm
  2. rpm -ivh https://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-25.noarch.rpm

  3. Update your package cache dnf update

  4. Repeat sudo dnf install path/to/rpm

  5. Run VokoScreen

  6. Choose whatever you think you might want to use, such as the countdown.

  7. If you are going for the full screen, make sure it is on the right display.

  8. Click onto the tab showing a set of tools and make sure you have a set a videopath so you can find your recordings.

  9. When you are ready, hit start.

  10. Pause will allow you to stop the recording but start it again using the same video file. Stop will end the recording.

Play opens up the default video player to play the file. However, if you get an error with doing this then you can do the next step.

VLC player can be installed for playback of the video files with: su -c 'yum -y install vlc'
